Tear the Tags Off the Mattress Day

Lost Sock Memorial Day

Peter Pan Day

Hurray for Buttons Day

Linda Marie

Brown hair, brown eyes, and pretty smile,

Little Linda Marie was hard at work,

She had just woken up a minute ago,

and was now making her bed.

As she was tucking the sheet into the bottom of bed,

she felt a small slippery piece of cloth.

She looked down into her small hand.

It was a tag of some sort.

It was blank.  “Curious.”  she thought.

She turned the tag over, there was writing on this side.

DO NOT REMOVE UNDER PENALTY OF LAW

OH NO !

Linda Marie was shocked !

She was nervous, scared, and had no idea what to do.

She knew she would not like to be taken to jail.

She put the tag in the secret pocket of her blue pajamas

What could she do?

Where could she go?

Wait.

She saw this movie last nite …

"Peter Pan."

In the movie, there was a girl named, Wendy, and

Wendy was able to fly!

That’s it !

That will solve everything .

She could fly to Never Never Land !

Linda Marie wanted to leave right away.

She sat on her bed and grabbed yesterday’s blue sock from the floor.

She put it on.

Now, where was the other one?

She looked all around, but she was in a big hurry.

How is it that a single sock can disappear ?

I don’t get it.

Well, she just didn’t have any more time to spend on a sock.

There was adventure ahead.

She snuck downstairs and out the back door.

She ran down the sidewalk and with her eyes on the sky,

She lept up.

… and came right back down.

What ?

Linda Marie ran and jumped.

Ran and jumped, & ran and jumped,

But still, couldn’t fly.

That was strange, she was sure she could fly.

Linda Marie sat by the curb.

Linda Marie was not allowed to cross the street by herself.

“I guess I’m not going to Never Never Land today.” She thought.

She got up, and slowly started walking back home.

Her mother met her at the door.

She had been sitting at the kitchen table with her “button tin”

{This was a round container that contained a treasure of buttons.

All kinds & all colors.}

“What’s the matter Linda Marie?” her mother asked.

Linda Marie reached into her secret pocket and pulled out the tag.

She sighed deeply and handed it to her mom.

“This.” she replied.

Her mom read it, and then gave her daughter a big smile.

“You’re not going to jail. Thank you for this tag. & here is something for you.”

She reached in her “tin” and handed her daughter a big purple button.

Linda smiled and gave her mom a hug.

She went back upstairs to her room

The first thing she noticed was her bed.

And … something wasn’t right.

There was a very little bump under the blankets.

OH NO Not again …

She marched over to the bed,

reached under the blankets and pulled out …

her other sock.

“ I have a place where dreams are born,

And time is never planned.

It's not on any chart,

You must find it with your heart.

Never Never Land.

It might be miles beyond the moon,

Or right there where you stand.

Just keep an open mind,

And then suddenly you'll find

Never Never Land.

You'll have a treasure if you stay there,

More precious far than gold.

For once you have found your way there,

You can never, never grow old.

And that's my home where dreams are born,

And time is never planned.

Just think of lovely things.

And your heart will fly on wings,

Forever in Never Never Land.

You'll have a treasure if you stay there,

More precious far than gold.

For once you have found your way there,

You can never, never grow old.

And that's my home where dreams are born,

And time is never planned.

Just think of lovely things.

And your heart will fly on wings,

Forever in Never Never Land.”

National Tap Dance Day

National Brown Bag it Day

Cookie Monster's Birthday

 Michael P.

There once was a lad

 named Michael P.

Who was as fine of a lad,

 as he could be.

He liked to sing,

He loved to dance,

He’d do the “ol’ softshoe”

when he had the chance.

Everyone thought

he was  “a heck of a guy.”

He could make new friends,

in the blink of an eye.

One day while walking to school with his friends

They heard a loud noise.

“Arrggg!“

A bright blue monster

jumped out from behind a tree.

“Cookies!”

 The googlie-eyed monster shouted.

Everyone ran.

Except for Michael P.

“You want cookies?” Mike asked.

“Cookies!”

The furry blue creature repeated.

Mike sat down on the grass,

The monster did the same.

Mike opened up his brown bag containing his lunch.

Sure enough, his mom had included two cookies.

He offered one to the monster and

kept one for himself.

“Cookies!”

The monster gobbled it up greedily.

Om nom nom nom

“Me love cookies!"

His eyes were bouncing around.

Next, he started to sing.

“’C’ is for cookies

That’s good enough for me.

’C’ is for cookies

That’s good enough for me.

‘C’ is for cookies

That’s good enough for meee …

Thank you for the cookie,

My new friend, Michael P.”

He then got up and walked away.

Michael P. thought that was a little strange,

but, got up and headed back to school.

“Friendship ...

is not something you learn in school.

But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship,

 you really haven't learned anything.”
